and Non Fiction Audiobooks
Audiobooks are the reason I got into voiceover. As an avid reader, I have always enjoyed both absorbing a good story, and telling one. And the challenge and joy of bringing an author's words to life is one that I treat with reverence and respect, as well as the joy and engagement that an author expects.
Audiobooks are probably one of the most challenging areas of voice work; they require patience, dedication, continuity and a gamut of character work to bring many different voices to life. And of course, we can't forget non-fiction work, which requires a connection with an audience for long periods of time, as well as a strict understanding of the source material.
The beauty of audiobooks lies in the captivating stories that we continue to tell, and I've been fortunate enough to work with countless different types of authors, producers and casting coordinators on a range of genres, including Fantasy, Science Fiction, Historical Drama, Literary Fiction, Romance and Children's Books, as well as a range of non-fiction titles.
As a professional male narrator, I provide my broadcast-quality studio, where I have recorded books for many major publishers, such as Penguin Random House and Simon and Schuster. However, being based in London also allows me to attend studios in the city centre should it be desired.
Non Fiction
As a professional male narrator, I also provide non-fiction narration. When it comes to this side of audiobooks, there is a tendency for authors to narrate their own work. This can be beneficial, as it's straight from the source, and the connection and history to the material are very real. But let's be honest, not everyone is designed to narrate a book.
A professional narrator can bring a dynamic feel and style to any book, through pacing, emphasis and creating a keen sense of authority, the information is given in a way that listeners can engage with, not just listen to. Whether it's a self-help book, a business guide, an investigative journalist's searing takedown or even a comical satire, a professional narrator can breathe life into your non-fiction book.
